Teh following came from Tim Lanane's e-mail newsletter:As we begin the 2008 Indiana General Assembly, I want to invited area students to participate in their state government by serving as a Senate Page during the upcoming session.
Volunteering as a Senate Page is a great opportunity for any young person to see the legislative process up close.
Students between the ages of 12 and 18 may apply to serve as Senate Pages while the Indiana General Assembly is in session. Students will serve in the State Senate for one day assisting with various legislative activities including running errands within the Statehouse, delivering messages and helping with a variety of other tasks.
Session begins January 8 and will continue through March 14. Pages serve only on session days, which are generally Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. Being a Senate Page for a day is an excused absence from school.
There are a limited number of page positions available each session. Interested students should email or write me at the address below and include their full name, address, phone number, age, school, and two different dates they are available. Students may also contact Senate Student Services by calling 800-382-9467 or 317-232-9400 for more information on the program.
