Just in case anyone reading this has missed the big news this morning, Karl Rove is gone from the White House at the end of the month. Bilerico has post here. The Chicago Tribune has the news here.
I never understood how genius got attached to Rove's name. Even granting that Rove got Bush elected to the presidency, Rove leaves without establishing the Republican hegemony that he promoted in 2004 and a President whom other Republicans would prefer to ignore. I do not think that Rove understood something very important - the difference between getting elected and governing. This crew equated governing with the politics of elections and for them that meant standing on their base. The Republican hegemony prophesied by Rove meant going past their base and this they could not do.
Still, I get the feeling that we have not seen the last of him. I think he will be as hard to get rid of as head lice.
