Anderson: Economic development

The Herald-Bulletin reports today that redevelopment of Plant 20 appears underway.

“The submission of these requests shows that we’re on the right track,” Anderson Mayor Kevin Smith said. “Anderson has several significant business interests. But there is a large cost associated with redevelopment of these sites, and we want to maximize the investment in infrastructure.

“I would like to see a situation where all leads are funneled through VRG to realize our overall redevelopment strategy. We don’t want to do anything to discourage investment, but we want to make it logical redevelopment. Creating job growth and increasing the tax base is our goal.”
