I did Anderson's Herald-Bulletin reporting on Tipton's Ag Tech Park. Instead, its sister publication, The
Kokomo Tribune carried the story.
Located on 35 acres of land donated by Adler Seeds and the Kelley family along U.S. 31, the site could become the home of companies doing research and development of future advancements in agriculture.
The hope is to create 300 jobs by 2016.
I continue to harp on locals creating jobs instead of depending solely on the kindness of strangers. Tipton County is doing this:
Local resident Jane Harper came up with the idea to promote Tipton County as a place to develop the agriculture industry and county commissioner Tom Dolezal helped with the park concept.
“I always believed that agriculture was our natural asset,” Harper said. “Tipton County’s niche was agriculture.”
So what niche or niches does Madison County and Anderson have to exploit? What support is being given to those who want to exploit them?
