New source for biodiesel? Does McDonald's save the day?

Something for the Governor and the people in Purdue's Ag Department to think about here in this article from The Scotsman:

Biodiesel deal for waste edible fats

A GERMAN company has signed a deal with the French arm of McDonald's to take waste fats and convert them into biodiesel.

Petrotec announced yesterday it is to build a plant in Emden to produce 100,000 tonnes of biodiesel annually using waste edible oil from several sources which, under EU rules, can no longer be put into animal feed.

Some interesting ideas in the comments, too. I wonder just how much tallow is produced in the state? Of course, this means that the Governor has to think outside of the box.
