Papa's got a brand new bag now.
I have a copy of James Brown at the Apollo and it is amazing. I came to James Brown through The Who - check out The Who Sings My Generation where they have at least two of his songs. I never got to see him live. When he was in Indy for the Jazz Fest, I passed because I figured that it would be better not to see him than to see him so far past his prime.
Here is a Washington Post article and a New York Times one and one from the London Times (and another) and the Toronto Star and one from The Scotsman. Great music, did some stupid stuff, but he was out passing Christmas gifts to children before he got ill. How many of us did that?
