Friday-night farmers market planned for Yorktown | thestarpress.com | The Star Press

Having heard nothing about a Farmer's Market closer, I want to point out Yorktown is having one. Friday-night farmers market planned for Yorktown:
"Starting June 6 until some time in late October, some of the same vendors who market plants, produce and pork burgers at the Saturday-morning farmers market at Minnetrista Cultural Center will set up a second market 4-7 p.m. Fridays in the Yorktown-Mount Pleasant Community Library parking lot."
I never could get the wife up earlier enough to go to the one at Minnetrista.

Another article, Farmers markets freshen up grocery choices, from The Star-Press has good things to say about farmer markets:
"According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the number of farmers markets increased by 111 percent from 1994 to 2004. By 2006, there were more than 4,300 farmers markets across the country. The USDA attributes the rise in the number of such markets to an increased interest nationwide in fresh, locally grown produce."
