Yesterday, while thawing out the washing machine (do not ask, just realize we had subzero temps yesterday), I channel surfed to C-Span2. Book TV during the weekends with subjects ranging from the very interesting to duller than dull. I expected dull from the title of Bad Samaritans and the subject of economics. Even with the subject being economics, the author being Korean with a dry (but damned pointed) sense of humor and a Cambridge professor, I say it was worth the time. The world may not be as flat as Thomas Friedman wrote.
Why? The author, Ha-Joon Chang, spoke about how those countries favoring free trade for developing countries never used free trade when they started their capitalist systems. The facts I knew supported what the author spoke about. I think I will need to find a copy of this book.
