I learned yesterday that Judge Jack Brinkman is not running this year. I knew that George Pancol had signed up to run for the court but assumed that the rumored primary fight was on. I was wrong. George Pancol will run unopposed in the primary.
I wish Judge Brinkman well. He is our best judge and will be missed.
What has been missed - so far - is the return of Rodney Cummings. He filed at the Statehouse - not at our courthouse - within the past week. Why Mr. Cummings felt a return to Madison County politics was necessary is beyond my comprehension. Why he thinks is qualified to serve as a juvenile court judge beggars my imagination. That he chose to file at the Statehouse and not the Madison County Government Center might have been for his own convenience - he is now employed by the Marion County Prosecutor's office - but might also have been for the inconvenience of the Herald-Bulletin. Madison County does not need Rodney Cummings as our juvenile court judge.
