Last night's Herald Bulletin reported last night that Kevin Smith refused to step down as Mayor of Anderson. The former Mayor Smith joined the group filing suit last week claiming Mayor Ockomon's residence is in question. See my article here on the lawsuit.
My basic reaction is this: what a load of crap. Sorry about the bluntness. Whoever advised the lawsuit needs some basic political education. The lawsuit looks like a cheap stunt and nothing will change that. Smith's actions look even shabbier. At best he leaves himself open to being a laughingstock and at worst he erased any positive image he can leave of his administration.
Listen up: the time for the lawsuit was the day after Kris Ockomon won the primary and not the eve of his swearing in. Anything else looks like petty politicking by the losing side.
Being these are Republicans making asses out of themselves in public, I ought not be too unhappy. I am, though. This makes Anderson, its leadership, its voters look like numskulls (feel free to substitute another word conveying idiocy as you wish) throughout the world.
Shabby, very shabby.
