My wiseacre moment for the day

I am reading David Brooks column in today's New York Times, The Two Earthquakes, when I came across the following paragraph:
A conservatism that recognizes stable families as the foundation of economic growth is not hard to imagine. A conservatism that loves capitalism but distrusts capitalists is not hard to imagine either. Adam Smith felt this way. A conservatism that pays attention to people making less than $50,000 a year is the only conservatism worth defending.
And I thought: this sounds like what the Democratic Party is doing right now. Conservatives will just make a hash of it.

(By the way, the Brooks column has rather good things to say about Obama - and Huckabee - and worth reading.)
