Indiana Finance Leaves Chesterfield for Daleville

I caught this late yesterday afternoon via The IBJ Daily. Not much there, so I checked out the Muncie Star-Press. Reading Finance company moving to Daleville Indiana Finance will relocate in the Heartland Business Center and hopes to double its workforce of 45., a couple of things struck me:

Ok, I understand the idea of synergy - add businesses in the old outlet and more will come.

Monday's announcement continues a recent influx of jobs to Daleville. IBM opened a contact center there in November and employs about 200 people. Jarden Home Brands moved from Muncie to Daleville at the end of the year. Those two companies relocated in a building near the Heartland center -- a former outlet mall -- that has some of the same owners as the business center.

Jarden in particular cited the area's proximity to Interstate 69, which allows easy access to and from Indianapolis.

Is this not supposed to be an Anderson asset? Is this not what gives The Flagship its sheen? Where was Anderson in all of ths economic redevelopment?

Then I have to wonder about the financial end of this deal:

In the press release issued by the Economic Development Alliance, Okeley said he moved his company to the Heartland Business Center because of the facility's "strategic location and infrastructure" as well as the efforts of economic development and government officials.

Counting benefits, the jobs at Indiana Finance will average more than $45,000 in annual salary, economic officials said. The company will spend $1.3 million on its new offices. Delaware County officials provided $35,000 in relocation assistance. Murphy said Indiana Finance could be eligible for a tax abatement if it applies to Delaware County Council.

How does this deal add to the Delaware County tax rolls?
