Follow up on Death by soundbite?

Two different persepectives on Hillary's debate gaffe that I wrote about in Death by soundbite?. I found both in The Washington Post.

From Ruth Marcus, Damsel in the Debate:
"And a candidate as strong as Clinton doesn't need to play the woman-as-victim card, not even in 'the all-boys club of presidential politics,' as Clinton called it in a speech yesterday at her all-women alma mater, Wellesley College. I have a pretty good nose for sexism, and what I detected in the air from Philadelphia was not sexism but the desperation of candidates confronting a front-runner who happens to be a woman."
E.J. Dionne wrote the following in his column, The Issue the Democrats Dread:
In the short run, Clinton's exquisite calibration of her positions was the issue. But her debate dance reflects a deeper worry among Democrats that Republicans are ready to use impatience with illegal immigration to win back voters dissatisfied with the broader status quo.
