Edgewood Plaza Auction - update

The Herald Bulletin reports the Edgewood Shopping Plaza not sold at auction.

According to Anderson building inspector Michael Widing, who attended the auction on behalf of the city, the opening bid on the property was $10,000. The top bid on the property was $200,000, according to Widing.

“The final bid was $200,000, and no one would go any higher,” said Widing. “(Gallivan said) that the minimum that could be offered was $825,000, but everyone said, ‘No way.’”

However, auctioneer Norm Gallivan, whose company facilitated the auction, said that he was in talks with two developers about possibly buying the property. Gallivan spoke with the parties after formal bidding had ended.
