Free Entertainment in Anderson

The following is from the Mayor's Meat and Potatoes newsletter and I think it is worth passing along:

Join Us for Free Concerts/Movies at the Park

Come Sunday evening (July 8 - 7 p.m.), there’s no reason to feel the holiday fun is over – plan on attending Carl Storie’s free concert in the Shadyside Park Amphitheater. Bring a picnic or buy from vendors onsite. Don’t forget lawn chairs or a blanket!

For the remainder of July, Anderson Parks Department will sponsor Friday night movies (9:30 p.m.) and Sunday evening concerts (7 p.m.). The movie schedule is: July 13 – Charlotte’s Web; July 20 – Akeelah and the Bee; July 27 – Happy Feet. Concerts will feature: July 15 – Gregg Bacon; July 22 – Cook Chilies; July 29 – Living Proof.

We are the Site of the International Bowhunting Competition!

Like to meet new people while delivering a great first impression about Anderson? The International Bowhunting Organization’s World Championships will be held in Anderson, August 1-5. We’re expecting several thousand bowhunting competitors, plus their families – as many as 15,000 visitors!

The organizing committee needs up to 100 volunteers to dispense information, help to set up competition venues and other tasks. Visitors are expected from up to 38 countries! If you have time to volunteer beginning July 23 and/or during this event, please contact Mindy Girt, 606-1429 (mindy@girtsarchery.com); Tony Girt, 635-1432 (tony@girtsarchery.com) or Sheryl Myers, 648-6850 (smyers@cityofanderson.com).
