The Wall street Journal has an article criticizing the social enterprises I mentioned these in the post Social enterprise organisations - economic development opportunity?. The WSJ article's title gives away the article's viewpoint: Why 'Social Enterprise' Rarely Works.
While I wonder if here is an idea that provides an alternative to mere government programs or mere privatization for profit, I think the criticisms of the WSJ article probably have some validity. Whether those criticisms merit a wholesale junking of social enterprises is another, entirely different proposition. Or, so I think.
