Kurt Vonnegut Dies

On the way to bed, I checked the late news and the last stop was the New York Times. There was Vonnegut's familiar face and I guessed the news before I saw the headline.
Kurt Vonnegut, Author, Dies at 84
End of an era.

For some of us of a certain age, Vonnegut was the writer. As Hoosiers, he was our cultural icon. I think I heard of him before I read him. My mother's sister knew him when he still worked at GE. Her husband, my uncle, worked with his brother. My mother told a story about how she got the son,Mark, to stop crying.

It should not be a shock. Everyone I mentioned in the preceding paragraph is dead. He was no longer young.

I can only think of think of three words: So it goes.

Well, I guess can think of five more - God Bless You, Mr. Vonnegut.
