Corruption in prisons

Does this sound familiar?
An investigation by an undercover reporter working as a prison officer has exposed conditions in a private jail where inmates have easy access to drugs and mobile phones and subject overstretched staff to intimidation if they are too diligent in their work.
Compare that with this post on Taking Down Words: Behind Bars: Disturbing Reports Out Of Pendleton, Other State Facilities.

The opening quote comes from The Guardian in the UK. The article is Bribery and drugs exposed at private jail.

Government exists for certain purposes. I keep repeating that on this blog. Corrections, prisons, come under this rule. Privatizing prisons is not a good idea. Covertly privatizing them bit by bit as we seem to be doing in Indiana is not a good idea.
